File Management

There are 6 major parts to this project (all identified by the buttons at the side of this website - apart from this 'Starting Off' one).

You need to create a folder called Westleighs Got Talent, then create 6 folders inside it (one for each of the main project parts). The image below shows what your folder structure should look like.

As you complete more tasks, you could create sub-folders to organise your work more efficiently.

What is this project for?

Functional Skills in ICT will help you gain the most out of life, learning and work where ICT skills and knowledge need to be applied. This project will help you to master the Functional Skills.

How this project works.

This project has been designed to help you experience the ICT Functional Skills you need to pass your Functional Skills test(s). It is very important you pass Functional Skills because colleges and employers will be looking for them when you leave school.

Many tasks allow you to work up through the levels. The lowest level is Entry 1 and the highest is Level 2. Your teacher will be able to tell you which level each task is.

For your teachers, but you can have a look if you want to.

This project covers most of the Functional Skills standards. It does not directly cover the following standards:

Use ICT Systems:

• E3, L1 & L2 1.5 - Select and adjust system settings as appropriate to individual needs.
• L1 & L2 3.2 - Insert, remove, label and store media safely
• L2 5.1 - Identify ICT problems and take appropriate action

Develop, present and communicate information:

• L1 & L2 5.1 - Create, access, read and respond appropriately to email and other ICT-based communication, including attachments, and adapt style to suit audience (The areas in bold italics are not covered)

Although the above standards are not directly covered, you could build them in.
